Visit to Camp

Kevin had a conference in Syracuse to attend so we were able to stay at camp. It was so nice to hang out with mom and dad and I captured some great memories. My favorite is the high chair one. The dining hall at camp is always so noisy, but each one of the Warner kids fell asleep in the high chair in spite of it. Jack carried on the tradition. I also love the ones by the JD...it is an iconic thing, especially with my dad...there isn't a day at camp that you don't see him on it at least once.

This is Heidi's sister. Is that Bayouca? If it is, my husband's Grandpa (Irven Kunkel) spent almost every day until he died volunteering there. I think that there is even a building named after him.

It is! My dad has been the director there for 35 years. I love Grandpa Kunkel...he and Grandpa Brink were awesome. I actually have a book shelf that the 2 of them made me. There is even one of the maintence barns named after them! It's such a small world!

We always knew he'd work there until his dying day. The last day he worked at camp, he left and went to the hospital and from there went to home to heaven and never back to his earthly home. Grandma Kunkel is in a nusring home now here in Ohio near my in-laws and has alstheimers. She had been living at my in-laws since Grandpa died until this past spring. My husband tagged along with Grandpa to work at camp many days when they were visiting. It is because of working with Grandpa that he is very good at home improvement projects!

i was talking to mom and we realized we know your husband. yeah...they were such a blessing to dad too...all the little things he couldn't get to that they were able to get done. my favorite story from dad was when he would fix them lunch and if they didn't like it, grandpa kunkle would eat bread with milk on it.

That is so funny because we always talk about what he ate for dessert when there was none. A piece of bread with applesauce and milk. It was his poor man's apple pie! I've heard many stories about your Dad trying to pay Grandpa Kunkel and he always found a way to give it back. He preferred to wait to get paid in heaven! In case you can't think of names my husband is Chris Baker & my in-laws are Bill & Faith.
